Meet our team - Felix
Updated: Jul 13
Welcome to our latest meet the team blog. Today we introduce Felix Bein who joined Bedford in 2019. Felix is part of our German Customer Success Team and is passionate about all things Anaplan.
1. What made you consider joining Bedford?
I considered joining Bedford because I was convinced that the combination of the capabilities offered by the Anaplan platform and the adoption of "The Bedford Way" was very promising in many aspects. Having seen the team successfully expand across several regions within EMEA, I am very proud to say that I was right.
Another reason why I considered joining Bedford was the opportunity to help customers to find a remedy for their pain points. Before I became a consultant, I had several FP&A related roles. I had to spend a lot of time gathering data from various sources that were not always owned by the business before I could start the planning process, for example. I am aware of our customers' pain points.
2. What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the fact that I was able to help shape the team in our German office by having absorbed the culture at our headquarters and transferred it to the consultants in Germany to continue our success story.
3. What’s your favourite part of working at Bedford?
What I like most about working at Bedford is a) making our customers' lives easier, b) receiving recognition for accomplishments, and c) knowing I have the supportive network that I can always rely on to achieve a) and b).
4. Describe Bedford in 3 words
If I had to describe Bedford in 3 words, I would say cooperation, teamwork, and partnership.
5. What’s the company like? How would you describe the team culture?
I would describe the culture at Bedford as one that encourages teamwork, humility and quality in the execution of our projects, always keeping the customer focused.
6. How would you describe a typical day?
A typical day at Bedford is anything but boring. As we operate in a variety of industries and build different use cases tailored to each of our customers across the EMEA region, we are challenged every day in a new way. Besides, the rapid implementation cycles of the Anaplan technology don’t even allow a daily grind to emerge.
7. What’s the most important skill that someone will need to succeed as a consultant?
The most important skill someone needs to be successful as a consultant is first to understand that every client is different and has their own unique challenges. We are not implementing a solution that dictates to our customers a planning method. We are implementing a unique solution that is dictated by our customer’s planning method. The key is to translate the business language into the technical solution and to bring the technical solution closer to the business owner.
8. What have you learned in the last six months?
If I were asked what I have learned in the last six months, I would not be able to give that one simple answer. Having worked with many people from different backgrounds in multiple companies in a variety of industries across EMEA, I have not only been able to improve my analytical skills and soft skills but also learned a lot about the specifics of these industries. With regards to Anaplan, learning never stops. In addition to the many existing features, the platform is constantly being enhanced.
9. Why do you stay at Bedford?
I am staying at Bedford for several reasons. I get to work on interesting projects alongside an awesome team. On top, I learn something new every day. Even though I have a consulting job, I believe we have a good work-life balance. I don't feel like I'm waiting for the weekend to begin. The management team really cares about each one of us in the company
10. What is the biggest challenge that someone in this position would face?
The biggest challenge someone in this position would face is the ability to adapt to new use cases in different industries in a timely manner. But at the same time, it is the most fun of this position.
